write, finish, and publish your first book
“I’ve always wanted to write a book, but I don’t know where to start.”
“I’ve got a half-finished novel and no clue what to do next.”
“I write poems/short stories and want to finally publish them.”
“I need someone to just show me the steps… and believe I can do it.”
Over just nine weeks, we will:
Find your idea — poems, short story, novel, or anything in between (even if you're starting fresh)
Make a doable writing plan — with word-count goals that actually fit your life
Get the words down — with brain-dumps, sprints, and gentle structure to keep you moving
Edit and polish your work — using free tools, smart self-editing techniques, and reader feedback
Create a beautiful book — including your cover, interior formatting, blurb, and description, all with no added cost
Kickstart your author career — creating your socials, mailing list, and website (if you want to, that is!)
Format and publish with ease — using free platforms and print-on-demand (print your book = ~$4 USD, no bulk buying)
Press publish and hold your book — really hold it. In your hands. Your book — with your name on the cover.
Allow yourself to fail and your creativity will be boundless
You’ve been dreaming of writing a book for years, but can’t seem to start—or finish
You have a story inside you, but second-guess every sentence before it hits the page
You rewrite your first chapter over and over again… and secretly wonder if you’ll ever get past it
You’ve read the advice that “your first book won’t be any good” and thought, well then maybe I shouldn’t even try
You want to hold your finished book in your hands and cry happy tears—not cry over your blinking cursor
You keep getting stuck in self-doubt, perfectionism, procrastination… or all three (🙃)
You want support that’s encouraging, real, and actually helpful—not a 200-page PDF you’ll never read
You’re ready to stop stalling, start writing, and finally call yourself an author
No prior experience needed
You can join from anywhere in the world
You can write fiction, poems, memoir—whatever feels right
You can publish a short story (~7,000 words), a novel, a poetry collection—whatever lights you up
And yes, you can do it in your pyjamas.
Hi! I'm Rachel Graham
Thriller author, educator, and once-upon-a-time dreamer who didn’t think anyone would ever read her stories.
For years, I thought writing a book meant waiting for permission. That I needed an agent, a book deal, or to somehow prove I was “good enough” before I could call myself an author. I stalled. I rewrote. I doubted every sentence.

Then I found self-publishing, and everything changed.
I stopped aiming for perfect. I let myself write a messy draft.
I let it be terrible… and then I let it be finished.
And you know what? People loved it. They asked for more.
Now that story isn’t just on my shelf—it’s on hundreds of shelves around the world. 📚💛
I created the "I Wrote a Book!" course for the version of me who thought it was impossible… and for you, if you’re ready to find out that it’s not.
You can live your dream and hold your own book in your hands for just $249
(either as a one-off payment, or 3x monthly payments of $99)
You don't need to:
Pay for a fancy editor
Buy design software
Hire a formatter
Print 500 books and store them in your garage
I’ll show you how to do it all with free tools, or budget-friendly options if you want a little extra polish.
Your only extra required cost? Printing your book (about $4 USD per copy), plus shipping.
You can do this with minimal investment.
You can publish a book you’re proud of, without going broke.
I'll teach you how, and you can reuse it forever.
You could keep Googling how to publish your book…
But let's be honest: how long will that take before you finally hit publish?
You're not lazy.
You're not flaky.
You're just overwhelmed by All. The. Steps.
And if we’re being real, traditional publishing has made the whole process feel way harder than it needs to be.
Let’s simplify this.
Let’s get you writing… and finishing… and holding your book in your hands.
Because that dream? It's within reach.
Are you ready for it?
What's involved in this course?
This is an online course with weekly tasks and catch-ups to keep you on-track in writing, editing, and publishing your book over about nine weeks
The curriculum:

Week 4: Positioning Your Story: We cover genre, story titles, and book descriptions.
Week 5: Editing: With your first draft complete (or near to it), we look at how to self-edit and combat first-time writing mistakes most authors make.
Week 6: Beta Readers: We learn about the value of beta readers, how to find them, and how to make the most of feedback.
Week 7: Preparing for Publication: We learn about traditional versus self-publishing and indie-presses, create your cover, and get your files ready for printing and reading on e-readers!
Week 8: Listing Your Book: We learn about releasing your book to the world, including distributors (e.g. Amazon), ISBNs, pricing, and copyright.

200 words a day = enough for a short story
1500 words a week = if you rather write in bulk
1 page a day = if you want to push yourself

Or... Add your name and email below ⬇️
I’ll send you a few more details if you still wanna think about it!
Do I need to have a story idea already?
Nope! You can come with an idea, or not a clue. I'll give tips for finding ideas, or developing existing ones.
How much time do I need each week?
The course content is provided in bite-sized pieces to make it easy to digest (lol, too punny!). There's about 40 minutes of video per week, and a suggested hour or two per day for writing - but it's super flexible!
How much extra will it cost me to publish?
Optionally - nothing! I'll show you how to edit, proofread, format, design your cover, and publish, all for free.
How do I get the buddy discount?
Find two or more buddies to sign up at the same time as you, and each use the code "WRITINGBUDDIES" at checkout.
When does the course start?
The course is planned to release in October, however I may be able to pre-release some modules, or get you started with one-to-one help!
No experience required. Pyjamas encouraged.
